IPC acute food insecurity analysis, April to September 2026

IPC analysis of acute food insecurity in the eight livelihood zones of Burundi, for the current period of April to May 2026 and the projected period of June to September 2026. About 1.77 million people, or 14% of the analysed population, were in Phase 3 or above, including 220,000 in Phase 4 (pp. 1 and 4). After the 2026B season harvests, this number is projected to fall to about 1.02 million people, or 8% (p. 1). The analysis workshop was held from 22 to 26 June 2026 under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock (p. 11).
